Locked out of ssh (secure shell)
Locked out of ssh (secure shell)
Solution
A common problem that all server admin dread is when the ssh deamon fails to load or you accidently set up the sshd_conf file with a new port number which you forgot to open up in your firewall.
The solution to getting access back to your server is either contact your host and get them to manually access your server and find the problem, but this will cost you money.
OR, fix the problem youself.
If you have access to WHM then you can easily fix the problem by trying the following url in your browser:
* https:// INSERTWHMIP :2087/scripts2/doautofixer?autofix=safesshrestart
This command will run the autofix script on your server and restart SSH with the bare settings and back to port 22. This allowing you access again to your server to fix any problems or edit the sshd_conf file back to a state which will allow SSH to operate correctly.
